Walk through of ways to legally and informally take control of public and/or private land for use as community space and gardens. I will rely on existing websites and graphic media to share with participants as they move towards liberating the lot in their life. I would like to take questions and offer solid solutions for prospective guerrilla gardeners.
gil lopez is the co-founder of two gardens in Western Queens (Smiling Hogshead Ranch and the yet-to-be-named Resistance is Fertile garden in Sunnyside). A former advisor for 596acres.org (which helped community groups access city owned land), gil is also a compost professional and environmental educator.
