Description

AnarkoArtLab was founded in 2007 together with NYCABF at The Living Theatre, in New York’s East Village. The collective brings together artists, performers, musicians, poets, filmmakers, and dancers, many of them immigrants, working across the world. Its practices move between the occupation of public space and Collective creation.

Anarchism, here, is lived experiment rather than doctrine, a commitment to social and political transformation that runs through the body, the garden, the street, the stage, and the page simultaneously. The work enacts this commitment in material and relational terms: in what it makes, where it makes it, with whom, and under what conditions.

About the Authors:

Adrians Black, one of the founders of AnarkoArtLab and also one of the founders of the NYC Anarchist book fair, they built the visual and structural body and contributed texts and poems written from within the practice.

Tasha Mrzljak wrote the analytical texts, developed over two decades of engagement with the collective, through the frameworks of post-anarchism, decolonial theory, radical feminism, and intersectionality
