To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the New York City Anarchist Book Fair, Incendiary Thoughts: 20 Years of NYCABF organizing by Bill C. presents materials produced, collected, and disseminated throughout the last two decades of the book fair. Presented as an assemblage, this archive explore what has manifested through the book fair and offers a visual history of the book fair. Since it began two decades ago, the New York City Anarchist Book Fair has become a vital resource for North American anarchists: a place to gather and organize; to share ideas, art, and insurgency; and to introduce our movement to the anarcho-curious. Each year, NYCABF hosts over 60 to 80 exhibitors including publishers, writers, activists, artists, musicians and other organizers.

Taking inspiration from Ben Morea, who spoke about “an accumulation of differences,” this exhibition explores the role of the book fair in creating a momentary commons, an anarchist infrastructure of exchange, mutual aid, international solidarity, and healing, which, together, forms an articulation of a world without hierarchy.
