Meta-gogy of the oppressed is a workshop on non-hierarchical dialogue which uses Freire an pedagogy to examine Pedagogy of the Oppressed.

Freire lays out his theories around the banking method of education and how it serves to reinforce oppression by raising oppressed people to be meek and manageable. He then proposes a new “problem-posing” pedagogy of the oppressed. We will start by reflecting on the group members’ experiences with education and dialogue, both in childhood and adulthood.

He stresses that neither speaking without action, or acting without reflecting, will transform the world. We will begin by reflecting together on our experiences with dialogue, when it has been generative versus destructive. We will then read through few pages of the chapters, pausing to discuss. Then we will split up into groups. The groups will present their skits, and we will discuss each one, asking ourselves what the consequences are of dialoguing without that quality, whether it feels humanizing or not to do so, and how this
