Community organizing has always been a part of counter surveillance. Cop Watching is often considered an activity unto itself whereas, historically, it has been embedded with other forms of community organizing.

Chris Robé, author of “Abolishing Surveillance: Digital Media Activism and State Repression” (PM Press, 2023) will provide a brief history of cop watching within the United States and link it to most recent iterations of ICE Watching.
