Join N.O. Bonzo and Neala Schleuning for an in-person discussion of art, anarchy, and mutual aid at the NYC Anarchist Book Fair on Sunday, September 11th.

The climate crisis calls for all political hands on deck. Nourishing the power of the imagination is an extremely important tool for inspiring political change. Here is where artists will play a key political role. This workshop explores the messages they are currently creating as we shape a new world.

N.O. Bonzo is an anarchist illustrator, printmaker, and muralist based out of Portland, OR. They are the creator of Off with Their Heads: An Antifascist Coloring Book and illustrator of Mutual Aid: An Illuminated Factor of Evolution by Peter Kropotkin.

Neala Schleuning is a writer and educator. She received her PhD in American Studies from the University of Minnesota in 1978 with an emphasis in political philosophy and intellectual history. Fulbright Scholar to the Russian Federation, she is the author of many articles, higher education policy papers, films and radio productions, and several books, including Artpolitik: Social Anarchist Aesthetics in an Age of Fragmentation (2013). Artpolitik examines the relationship between art and politics, focusing on radical political aesthetics in western culture since the end of the nineteenth century. Drawing from Surrealism, Socialist Realism, the Situationist International, capitalist consumer aesthetics, and critical theory, Neala Schleuning elaborates a social anarchist approach to aesthetics.
