2015 Anarchist Film Festival

Deadline April 5, 2015

The New York Anarchist Film Festival, now in its 9th year, is looking for films that celebrate the spirit of resistance against the domineering forces of the state and capitalist economic system and all forms of social repression.

The NYC Anarchist Film Festival started in 2007 in honor of Brad Will - a beloved comrade and anarchist media activist who was assassinated by a Mexican paramilitary sniper. Brad was filming an uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2006, when he was fatally shot. Brad's footage from Oaxaca showed a popular resistance to State terrorism. We screened it as an example of a courageous uprising.

Since then, we have shown examples from around the world of people fighting for a better world, for human rights and dignity, and ecological sanity. We show everything from historical revolutionary ideas to examples of current direct actions, and contemporary struggles for self-governance, direct democracy, and resistance to all forms of subjugation, exploitation and tyranny. We also show the many ways in which in which people live and create autonomously outside the capitalist model.

The NYC Anarchist Film Festival is an interactive community forum where we invite discussion, and strive to realize the potential of resistance movements despite the limitations of the corporate police/surveillance/terror State. Your passion, discussion and creativity welcomed!

Criteria for video submission: Please submit your original video work for a one time screening. We prefer short videos (10 min or less) but will consider videos of any length especially if we can screen it in part if we don't have time to screen the entire film. Filmmakers are encouraged to attend film festival and present their videos.

Do not miss this unique and exciting opportunity to be part of an enlightening, lively, radical and creative social experience.
